Esalen massage was developed at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. Its soothing, long strokes and gentle stretches are deeply relaxing. Esalen massage melts tension, decreases toxins and improves flexibility. Esalen and lomi lomi massage blend together beautifully.
This nurturing style has flowing, rhythmic strokes, like ocean waves lapping the shore, and feels wonderful. Originally from Hawaii, lomi lomi was once reserved for the island kings and royalty.
I was introduced to Esalen massage when I hosted a community class in Berkeley with one of Esalen's first teachers. Back then I made my first massage table out of plywood! In the years since I've had many courses at the Esalen Institute, including anatomy for massage, advanced Esalen massage, Esalen massage with hot stones, etc. (diplomas below).
My training in traditional and advanced lomi lomi massage was with Carrie Rowell, a lomi lomi master in Hawaii.
I am licensed in California as a Certified Massage Therapist.
Diplomas in Esalen, lomi lomi, hot stone and Heart Touch massage.
